I am delighted that my film Virginia Grütter - Stronger Than Pain, a portrait of an extraordinary Latin American woman, will be shown at the Zeughaus Kino in Berlin on Sept. 23, 2022, 9 p.m. and on Nov. 14, 2022, 7 p.m. as part of a Gisela Tuchtenhagen Retrospective. Gisela Tuchtenhagen was the editor and Klaus Wildenhahn's first legendary cameraman, Rudolf Körösi was in charge of the camera. The result is an unusual and deeply personal portrait of the Latin American revolutionary, writer and theater director Virginia Grütter, whose life journey took her from Costa Rica to Germany, Nicaragua, Chile and Cuba, where she made Brechtian theater known in Latin America. I will be available for a subsequent talk on 09/23/2022.
Awarded by the Film Rating Board "besonders wertvoll" (particularly valuable).
This film is not just about the extraordinary personality of Virginia Grütter and her accomplishments but the filmmaker's struggles in dealing with the protagonist. Grütter's Illness and aging are not shamefully concealed as they become a central element of the film.
My film will be shown on September 23, 22 at 9 p.m. and November 14, 22 at 7 p.m. at the German Historical Museum, Zeughauskino, Unter den Linden 2, Berlin. Tickets: 030 20304770
